Should students be allowed to leave school grounds for lunch?

Should students be allowed to leave school grounds for lunch?

I think students in general should be given more freedom. But with freedom, always comes manipulation, and abuse of freedom. So that’s why it should be enforced just like any other rule if we ever were to allow students to leave the building for lunch. I think lunch should be 35 minutes instead of 25, and schools should either shorten SSR or just remove it either way. Let’s face it, who really reads in SSR? And even if they do, how is 25 minutes a day really going to help anyone or improve anything. Most people sleep, eat, talk, get in trouble etc. I really see no point in having a time every single day to just sit there and “be silent” or “have something to do”. So if we were to allow students to leave the building for lunch, we should be allowed to leave for SSR, too.
The question that comes up is that how would we account for students who leave during lunch and if students would not come back if allowed to leave. How do we trust them? Well, it can be enforced like any other rule we have. If a student is going to leave school, they should sign out, or leave some sort of collateral like their keys (except for their car of course) or their books, so that there’s no way they would get away with not coming back. And if a student doesn’t sign back in or retrieve their items, they can get up to a 10 day suspension.
I see nothing wrong with that rule. I have never been one to question authority or break rules constantly. Even though I am not the most obedient at times, I still obey most rules and treat authority with respect even if I happen to break few. I would have no problem signing in and out or leaving something behind to promise I will return if was allowed to leave, because I would appreciated being given the privilege to do so; and I wouldn’t want to take advantage of that or abuse the privilege, because that would be just a good example of why not to give students freedom. And why would you want to make a school or an authority figure that has the power to give you freedom not t5rust you?
I have never understood how so many students are always so confrontational when regards to following rules and respecting authority and administration. You don’t have to agree with rules in order to follow them, but in the moment it is just easier to do what you’re told. It’s funny to me because the same students who challenge authority and treat administration with utter disrespect are the same student who beg for freedom and respect back. How are you going to ask for respect from someone who you disrespect all the time? I will never understand. But nevertheless, as long as the administration is willing to enforce the rules like they do all the others so diligently, or even restrict some students from being granted the privilege of it for not being obedient, I see no harm in allowing students to leave the building or school grounds during lunch and SSR.

Curfew Among Teens

I believe the idea of the curfew for teens is quite a debatable subject. First of all, most kids have parents who are already expecting them to be home at a certain time anyways. Having a separate curfew provided by the town that police are supposed to enforce is just unnecessary. And for the kids who aren't expected to be home, will most likely be driving around all night to begin with. Leaving the curfew to act as just another reason to get in trouble; when in most cases these kids aren't doing anything harmful, malicious, or reckless. In the cases where they are doing bad things, they would most likely get caught anyways so the curfew is once again useless, making it only effective on kids who are trusted by their parents not to have a curfew, and mature enough to be out late at night not and doing anything wrong.

The main point of the curfew these days is to prevent young kids from staying out all night and committing harmful illegal acts. Some of them have parents that are at home sleeping and expecting them home, so this allows police to give kids a reason to be brought home. Also, staying home and getting sleep is an important thing to be encouraged, since sleep deprivation is a big problem among adolescents. But while this is all true, a once in a while adventure form the confines of everyday rules and laws is also healthy and stress reliving to everyone, not just young teens.

I think this curfew should be lifted, because there is nothing wrong in simply existing on the streets at a late hour. The real problem is kids who get involved in crime late at night, but the cops should be focusing on catching people like that in the first place. There are many teens that are good willed kids  who aren't out breaking the law, who are just out to have fun or to attend a concert, show, movie etc. past curfew. So if it wasn't illegal to be out late and not doing anything else wrong, these kids could go on with their lives. And the ones out doing things they shouldn't be, can face consequence like they normally would, curfew or no curfew.

Lil poopy

Recently, a 9 year old rapper by the name of "Lil poopy" has gone udner investigation for child neglect by the Brockton police. As seen above, he is pictured in his music videos making obscene getures, along with refrences to drugs in his lyrics. His manager and mentor, French Montana, assures everyone that he is taking good care of Lil poopy. I think there is no harm in investigating into his situation just to make sure the child isn't being neglected, considering that he is only 9 years old.

Harnessing the Power of Zombies as an Energy Source

Harnessing the Power of Zombies as an Energy Source

Zombies are not just to run away from anymore. Reports have stated that the government is working on making turbines that will be driven by zombies in order to create hydroelectric power. The turbines will have machines that dangle brains in front of the zombies who will then move these giant turbines themselves, creating massive amount of energy. This will lower our dependence on foreign oil and other forms of harnessing energy. This can be very beneficial to the country because we will eradicate the zombies form our society and also save the environment by creating energy in a non polluting, or destructive manner. Here in America, gas prices will also be able to drop since the need for foreign oil will be significantly reduced.

You know what really grinds my gears? How theres no Mountain Dew in schools across America. Kids deserve to be blessed by the tase of gold, and its also educational because it fuels the dreams of champions. If this country is that concerned about challenging the minds of kids in schools everywhere, then JUST DEW IT.
